Facebook Log In

So my FB account has been deactivated. My choice. I logged in today and activated it. The things I have not missed! I felt like I was trudging around the garbage dump. The place smells really bad. I only opened it because all my family is there. I really wish they could see it the same as I do. Politics and advertising. Politics as they want you to see it and advertising what they think you should buy or join. Even group suggestions based on their judgement of you. Really is sickening. What I find most concerning is my mindset when I reopened the account. I have been away for over six weeks now. Right away I want to interject my thinking into others posts. It’s cancerous! I may have to open another account in order to purge all that crap. I’ve been there for ten years. Nine years and six months too long. I can’t think of one thing positive that platform has accomplished for me. Not one. I also can’t think of one thing positive I have done for that platform. Ten years wasted. Find me on MeWe, see the link to the right, or right here. Thanks and I’ll see you around the planet.

A Sickness of The Soul

I’m sick and tired of the two punch agenda. “A white guy with an ‘assault rifle’.” This picture is not meant to place blame on any one race. It’s educational only. Disallowing for popular conspiracy theories, the real reason for mass shootings, i.e., mass killings, is a sickness of the soul. It’s not the weapon, one guy used fertilizer, it’s not ideology, look above, it’s not skin tone and it’s not gender. We just don’t want to talk about all the killing females have done in the past either. It’s a human tragedy which will not ever be repaired and laws certainly will not fix the problem. The only thing we can do, on an individual level, is to change our mindset. We need to fully understand no one, but our individual self, is responsible for our protection. We are individually responsible for our own self protection. We need to take whatever steps are required to ensure we are protecting ourselves and our loved ones. Take personal responsibility for your protection. That is the reason for the second amendment. It’s not a right given by the Constitution. Self protection is a natural right acknowledged by the Constitution. Any law which contradicts the Constitution is repugnant and invalid. How you choose to address that repugnance is a personal decision and I’m unwilling to make a legal suggestion.

I am saddened by the events this weekend. I am sad for the families. I am sad for the victims. I am sad for our country. We are headed towards another internal war and war is never pretty.

Facebook – Why Bother?

I’ve been censored too many times on this platform. This is not the intent of the internet. Never was. For you younger people out there, the ones who have always known of the internet, Facebook is not a shining example of the freedom the internet was going to be. Hell, Facebook isn’t even a good example of social media. I have been involved in “Social Media” since before the internet. Before the internet was made public, we had a system called Bulletin Board Services or BBS for short. They where, still are actually, a system of privately owned computers with modems. I owned one. It was called “The Moonstone BBS” and I operated it from my home in Norfolk, VA. You can see the history of my BBS in one of the networks I was a part of, Fido Net, http://nodehist.fidonet.org.ua/?address=1%3A275%2F157. This was probably one of the earliest forms of social media which used computers. The computers where set up to call one another and deliver “NET MAIL” to each BBS. The net mail was the text each of us typed into a chat area, or thread. The systems would make local calls as the information was made available. Any long distance communications where sent to a local hub, another BBS, and then they would transmit, via a long distance call, when the rates where cheapest. Usually after midnight. So, sometimes you would not see a message reply until the next day or 2. Yes, we had patience in communications then.

We had other ways, the CB radio was another one we used in my youth and many people still use those also. When the internet was made public, there where chat rooms of various types. Internet Relay Chat, or IRC was, and still is, very popular. My wife and I met in an IRC channel.

I guess my point is Facebook really sucks. Really bad. Even on our privet computers, the BBS, we did not censor people. The whole idea has always been the free and open exchange of information. That was the original intent of the internet even when it was a government only system. I believe it was called ARPA net. You would need to do a search to find out. No, Al Gore did not invent it. It was a network for scientific study.

So, I really hate Facebook. I will eventually delete my account and be done with it. Right now I have made some changes. I have deleted everyone who is not someone I have met face to face. Anyone on my page is family, in recovery, an old friend from my youth in N.VA, a veteran or someone I work with or a combination of those. The ONLY reason I have not deleted my account is because of my family. This is the simplest way to stay in touch. I won’t be here very much. You can find me on MeWe, https://mewe.com/i/joel_fleland. I have deleted my instagram account and the “WhatsApp” also. I uninstalled “messenger” as well. So the best ways to contact me is phone, here on my blog, MeWe, yelling into the either and Facebook as a last resort.

One last thing, someone was reporting me for my posts. I am pretty sure of this. That is one reason I deleted a bunch of people. If I get reported again, I’ll just go down to family only. There is no censorship, that I have seen, on MeWe. Really, if you don’t like what someone is saying, just unfriend them or block them. Just like I have always been. If I don’t like you. I’m not going to talk to you or listen to you. Some people are way to sensitive and special.
